Airlines On Edge: One Airline Security Incident After Another
Ever since the news of a British airline terror plot broke earlier this month, the airlines have been extremely cautious of anything that moves or looks suspicious within a mile radius of any airplane. Security incidents have skyrocketed ever since.
Just today, there were 6 incidents:
- U.S. Airways jet was diverted to Oklahoma City after a passenger was tackled by an air marshall for pushing a flight attendant.
- Continental Airlines flight from Texas California was held in El Paso after the crew discovered a missing panel in the bathroom.
- A utility knife was found on an empty seat of a US Air flight traveling to Connecticut.
- A false bomb threat caused the evacuation of an Aer Lingus flight from New York to Dublin.
- An American Airlines jet flying from England to Chicago was diverted to Maine after authorities discovered dynamite residue on a passenger. They are still questioning the man in custody.
If you plan on flying anytime soon, don’t make any sudden movements, don’t be of Middle Eastern descent, and don’t even flinch - you might get tackled by an air mashal. However, with high gas prices, you might not even be able to drive. My advice? Mail yourself.
